The days are warming and spring flowers are popping up everywhere. The springtime days call us outside but alas, the work day calls us inside. If that is the case for you, create a springtime paradise for your desk top. If you can’t be out with the flowers, they certainly should be inside with you! Ranunculas and anemones, daffodils and tulips… Arranged in a simple glass vase; absolutely glorious!

A Theme for your Big Day

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Of all of life’s rites of passage, getting married is the most public. The effort and expenses involved in one’s wedding day feed a billion dollar industry. But it’s all worth it. After all, you get married only once (hopefully) and you want everything to be perfect.

There is a reason why they call it “your big day,” and it’s not because you get to order everyone around. It’s because your wedding day should showcase who you are and this requires some serious strategizing. The two of you must put your heads together, harness all your creative energy and select a venue, menu, flowers and invitations— in short a theme—that reflects your personalities.

Theme weddings became popular not only because marrying couples want their wedding day to be memorable, but also because choosing a theme is like choosing a direction. There are a million things to plan, buy and arrange. Moreover, there are so many options, shades and sizes that making the right selection can be mind-boggling task.

Flowers are an essential part of any wedding celebration because they symbolize the beginning of new life. Choosing the right floral theme is very important.

Flora2000 recently decorated a beautiful pink-and-white themed wedding reception. The pink-purple orchid curtains, embellished orbs and magnificent vases of snow white and purple carnations glowed beautifully in the candlelight. Theme weddings, hitherto a very Western concept, have made their way to the opulent orient, and added another dimension to the colorful wedding ceremonies of the East.

A handmade nest of barked wire, willow whips and lily grass is the perfect stage for your favorite spring blooms. Tiny Tete-aTete daffodils, tulips and anemones nestle in to their natural nested home. Oh, what fun to think like a bird in this springtime nesting season.

Bloom and Sparkle at Bloomingdale’s

Friday, March 19th, 2010

It’s incredibly difficult to improve something that’s already perfect…. like a Baccarat crystal vase. However, David Beahm successfully did so at an event held in New York’s Bloomingdale’s. David’s floral works of art were arranged in exquisite Baccarat crystal vases. The bright orchids and red roses seemed all the more beautiful under the light of Bloomingdale’s Baccarat chandelier.

Baccarat crystal works are world-famous for their superb glass art, sparkling tableware and dazzling sconces. David Beahm’s stunning flowers and the elegant Baccarat vases were a match made in heaven. Arrangements from Flora2000’s David Beahm New York collection were also kept on display. The event received a tremendous positive response; everyone, including Bloomingdale’s Baccarat crystal specialist, Gena Davis, felt that the flowers showcased their crystal holders perfectly.

St. Patrick’s Day

Monday, March 15th, 2010

New buds, white blossoms and green shoots mean one thing– Spring! The winter is finally over and we want to celebrate, let the liquor flow and revel in green splendor.

St. Patrick’s originated in Ireland, as an annual feast in honor of Ireland’s revered St. Patricius, who brought Christianity to Ireland. He died on March 17th 461 AD and the Irish observe this day as a religious holiday. Green, the color of Spring, shamrocks and the Emerald Isle, eventually became inextricably linked with St. Patrick’s Day.

Today, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated by people of all backgrounds in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand. Come March 17th, the excitement for parades, the ensuing celebrations and the warmth in the air, all make St Patrick’s Day a special emerald infused extravaganza.

Fruits, Flowers and Girl Power!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Some things go together naturally, like bees and honey, caviar and wine, fruits and flowers. The last, besides being pleasingly alliterative, brings to mind delectable colors, scents and flavours.

Fruits and flowers make an unbeatable combination. A beautiful centerpiece with a colorful mix of perfectly ripened fruits set off with elegant and delicate flowers, can be an inviting beginning to a wonderful evening of conversation and laughter.

At the Women’s Day celebration at Azok, Flora2000’s incredible and edible arrangements made quite an impression on the sparkling attendees. Co hosted by Nisha Jhaveri of Myrah Spa and Lucky Morani of the restaurant, the soiree’s guest list included the likes of Isha Koppikar, Aarti Surendranath and Maria Goretti.

Our beautiful centerpieces and adorable napkin rings were crafted from fine flowers and delicious, succulent fruits and berries. It was an evening dedicated to, and in celebration of, the empowerment of women, where our elegant decor featuring orchids, cherry tomatoes, orange berries and star fruits set the scene.

Tulip Time with a Flip

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

It’s tulip time! It’s tulip time! Yes, tulips now fill the markets and it’s time for you to fill your home with these springtime beauties. “Wait a minute”, you say. “Those flowers in the photograph aren’t tulips”. Yes, these gorgeous striped blooms are tulips. Each petal has been carefully re-flexed to give the flower a fresh look – almost like a poppy but much more long-lasting. If you want to try this, buy your favorite fresh tulips. Enjoy them for a day or two and then pop the petals back. It’s important to wait for the flowers to age slightly. Too fresh and the petal will crack. Which of course, begs the question: Can flowers be too fresh? No, you just enjoy them as they age and then they are just right!

The Onset of Spring

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:-
But the least motion which th
ey made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.
- Wordsworth

Spring has sprung! It’s almost March and everyone’s celebrating the gradually lengthening days. The snow has thawed, giving way to small green tufts and tiny flowers. Pour a glass of champagne and raise a toast to the sounds, scents and new life that Spring has brought with it.

‘Linda’ from the David Beahm New York Collection is the perfect Spring arrangement. Cheerful yellow sunflowers and flashes of cobalt blue hydrangeas spill out of a chic white holder, exuding charm and cheer. What  better way than this to hail in spring after a long chilling winter!
